FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — December 2025
Planet Ocean Underwater Hotels — USA–UAE Initiative has confirmed that all underwater hotel operations are governed by a zero-discharge environmental design, ensuring that no sewage, greywater, fuel byproducts, or solid waste are released into surrounding marine ecosystems.
All waste streams generated by guests, crew, and scientific operations are fully contained within the surface barge infrastructure. Sewage, greywater, and solid waste are stored onboard and transferred to approved onshore treatment facilities in accordance with maritime and environmental regulations.
The underwater habitat itself contains no discharge systems. This separation ensures that sensitive reef environments remain isolated from human waste, detergents, chemicals, or food byproducts throughout the duration of operations.
In addition to waste containment, the system eliminates seabed anchoring. Station-keeping is achieved through controlled ballast and electric azimuth propulsion, preventing physical damage to coral structures and seabed habitats.
The zero-discharge architecture is a foundational requirement for deployment in warm-water coral regions, where even minor contamination can accelerate reef stress and decline.
